This client had recently moved in to their property and found that most aspects of the garden weren’t fit for purpose. The lawn area was unusable in the Winter months due to severe drainage issues, the patio was a death trap and they were convinced that the area was paved in bathroom tiles!! The decking had seen better days, as had the log roll that was rotting. So a complete overhaul it was!!
We started with the drainage issues, we dug out trenches across the area, installed drainage pipes and soakaway crates, filled with shingle and re-filled and re-levelled the lawn area. There were tonnes of clay to be removed from this garden, hence the drainage problems and tonnes of topsoil to go back in.

The bathroom tiles were removed from the paved area, all decking boards removed and we started from scratch. Our client wanted the decking area re-levelled so it was level with the patio, rather than a step down, so the framework was replaced and raised. New decking boards and a step were installed.
All other decking areas that were to be replaced were checked for damaged joists and where necessary replaced and then new boards installed across these areas. There was some stunning craftsmanship to create those curves on the decking boards.
The patio area required Aco drains to be installed along the house as it would be slightly higher than the bathroom tiles and would be higher than recommended for the damp course lines. We cladded the front fascias of the patio with a treated hardwood to create a flow from the decking area to the patio. Our client chose a beautiful Sandstone slab in Raj Blend, with matching setts to edge the curves. All was laid once again with amazing craftsmanship to keep within the curves of the existing area. We always use a Resin based Jointing compound for the pointing on our patios, available in 5 colours to really enhance the chosen slabs.
We created a new raised border made from sleepers, fully lined and filled with fresh topsoil along the fence line, which our clients were very excited to put a stamp on their garden and fill themselves.
Once all the other areas were completed we once again re-levelled and then re-turfed the lawn, pulling in all gardening teams to ensure the turfs were down before the bank holiday weekend!! Just to add to the pressure!!
We regularly attend the garden now to help out on the maintenance side and it is amazing to see it enhance through the seasons.
