Case Study 2 Complete Garden Design

Case Study 2

Bringing the inside, outside; achieve a seamless, smart transition into your garden.

One of the latest garden trends is creating a seamless look to your inside and outside space – after all, your garden is an extension of your living space.

And our clients wanted exactly that – somewhere to sit, eat and relax that felt just as good as the interior of their house. If you’ve ever wanted to create a sophisticated outside space that oozes an invitation to sit out there with a glass of wine then take a look below to find out how we achieved this stunning look with the help of stylish, outdoor porcelain tiles.

The challenge

As well as the garden design, it was important that the materials matched and complimented the inside of the house so we worked hard to create that consistent look and feel while making the outside a sleek space to spend time in.

We also had to work to very specific design criteria – our clients already had outdoor dining furniture picked out along with patio size and outdoor porcelain tiles. They had a clear vision of what they wanted to achieve – we just had to make it happen!

Plants were carefully discussed too, with a need for privacy and noise reduction at the back of the garden. After three months of planning, we were ready to get started.

The dirty work

There was a lot to clear before we could get started. We brought in our diggers and demolished an old shed, a rockery and dug the foundations for a new patio and paving area, along with re-levelling the lawn for new turf to be laid.

Once we’d done the groundwork, we were then able to work around the electrician who was installing permanent outdoor lighting. He was able to run his cabling through the foundations we’d created so that once it was all done it was hidden tidily away from view.

The patio was laid with outdoor porcelain tiles, along with the path, perfectly matching the interior of the home and providing a smooth transition from inside to outside. The floating path and borders were all fitted with Everedge in grey to keep the polar white marble chippings in place surrounding the slabs.

We used Scottish cobbles and grey slate in amongst the marble chippings to give texture and colour to borders and to smarten the appearance. A black bamboo wall was installed to give height and privacy, and was prepared with a Rizone barrier to stop it spreading and getting out of control, which would spoil the smart, chic appearance.

We installed lollipop trees (we used Ligustrum) to the rear of the garden giving essential privacy and additional height and texture and new fencing all around the garden.

The lawn was laid and additional planting installed in borders around the garden and the look was complete!
